RM of Laurier’s story
The Rural Municipality of Laurier No. 38 was incorporated on December 13, 1909. It lies in the southeast part of Saskatchewan, and the town of Radville is surrounded by it. The RM office is in Radville, and council meets on the second Tuesday of every month.
Two heritage buildings from the early years still stand. The Soda Lake School was built in 1914 as a one-room school and taught students until 1953. Today it houses the Soda Lake Community Centre.
At Souris Valley, a church built in 1907 as a Catholic church, St. Germaine Parish of the Archdiocese of St. Boniface, served until it closed in 1970. The building, also called the St. Germaine Roman Catholic Church, has since been run as the Souris Valley Co-operative Memorial Club.
The RM also includes the localities of Dandonneau, Neptune and Souris Valley, along with the ghost town of Brooking. The Radville Airport is within the municipality.
